I'm Dreamin' of....

New York City

My big plan was always to take a trip to Paris. Spend my days eating, shopping, walking the city, visiting the museums.... but I've changed my dream trip a little bit. Okay, a lot.

New York City. Why?

I'm a fan of  Selling New York on HGTV.

I am a suburban girl. I always have been, but somewhere deep inside there must be a city girl, by city I mean sky scrapers, taxi's and busyness.

I think the architecture and colors are beautiful. I want to walk the streets, smell the air, watch the traffic go by and sit at a corner cafe people watching.

Maybe one day, rent an apartment like this...
Maybe... one day... before I change my mind. ;)

A Rylie Post

Look who's getting big...

At eight months (today), Rylie is almost crawling, two teeth pushed through and has a little attitude.
Being a preemie, she is doing things a little late, but is advanced in other areas. She's a little little girl, only 14 1/2 pounds. 100% Spitfire!

Okay, enough facts, onto the cuteness....

Goodbye, Miss. Taylor.

Elizabeth Taylor.

One of the first movies that was on the "ok" list as a girl(besides Sound of Music and Pinocchio) was National Velvet. Mickey Rooney and Elizabeth Taylor. Young and sweet, no broken marriages, addictions... just fresh onto the scene.

I wonder if she would make any different choices... if she wished her parents had made different choices.

Hollywood glamour, walking and breathing.

Foodie Tuesday - Shrimp Linguine

I cook. Not as often as I'd like, but I am actually a pretty good cook. Really.

I don't like to follow recipes to the "T", I usually make them my own and end up adding what I like or removing what I don't like.

My cousin told me about this shrimp linguine that she whipped up one night, the recipe didn't call for a few things that I added, so I ended up making it my own version.

Shrimp Linguine with Brown Butter

Ingredients
1 pack of good dry linguine
1 pack of fresh, peeled and de-veined shrimp (I cut the tail off so it's less fishy)
1/2 cup to 1 cup of fresh grated Parmesan (I buy the block, it's cheaper and sharper in taste)
3-4 cloves of roughly chopped garlic
5 leaves of fresh basil, cut in strips (you can add more if you like)
1/2 cup of toasted pine nuts (you can toast in a hot pan, takes about 1 minute)
1 can of artichoke heart halves (in water not oil)
1 can of mushroom slices (not a must, I don't always add them)
1 stick of butter
2 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper

Cooking Directions:
Boil linguine in salted water (I like it al dente')
Saute garlic in heated olive oil
Once garlic is sauteed - add artichoke heats, add basil, mushrooms
Salt and pepper the artichoke, basil, mushroom mixture and put on low heat
Once the linguine is done, heat a separate pan on medium heat and add stick of butter
Add shrimp to the artichoke, basil and mushroom mixture
Once the butter is foamed and a light brown color, (takes about 4 minutes) add to the artichoke, basil and mushroom mixture.
Add linguine into the mixture and toss
Add grated Parmesan

Serve and enjoy!

Some of my favorite ingredients - garlic, pine nuts and basil!

Brown Butter

Finished results... scrumptious!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.

I did a little St. Patty's session (10 minutes actually) of my niece, Rylie. She had her t-shirt and ruffled pants and I couldn't resist.

Isn't she perfect?

St. Patricks Day is almost here...

My Irish blood is prominent in me. Proud to be Irish is an understatement. I am Irish. But we'll go into that on Thursday! Yes indeed!

Everyone, bakeries, bakery websites have the BEST St. Patty's day goodies up. I had to share!

I can reach right through the screen and grab one of these cupcakes.
(Psst... I secretly want to open a cupcake shop one day. Among all the other things I'm doing.)

Cake Pops anyone? These are so clever! I'm impressed.

I'm a fan of Cake Wrecks - specifically the funny part of it. This one wasn't so funny... just spectacular. Who crafts these kind of things?

Be sure to come back and check out my family's traditional Irish Dinner... yumminess. :)

I Heart Faces - Sun Flare

I am huge fan of I Heart Faces, sometimes I participate in the challenges but haven't been blogging much over the past few months. That will all change with the new blog. So, on Mondays, you can be sure to find  an I Heart Faces post here. :)

This week it's all about the Sun Flare.

I.LOVE.SUN. FLARE. Love it.

I knew which shot I would put up and went searching for it. I did a session with some friends and their little girl on one of my favorite beaches in beautiful Orange County, CA. The sun was setting and this perfect, natural sun flare was shining on this beautiful baby girl.
